Is bigger truly better?  Does the size of your website affect how Search Engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing see your site?  Do potential customers care if your site is big or small?  The answer to all of these questions is "YES!" (as long as the extra size is put to good use).

Apart from any other factor, a small website makes your company look small.  If you run a local pizza shop, a cover page and a menu may be all you need.  But if your company manufactures industrial gauges and electronic instruments, a one-page "line sheet" with a few product pictures is a bad idea.

For most women entrepreneurs, the seed of a business idea is planted in their mind sometime in their life and slowly germinates in the subconscious. Eventually, the idea will be pulled out and cultivated, sometimes resulting in a successful company, and other times resulting in a failed venture. Before the actual business can take flight, a great deal of planning has to be done to lay the groundwork for success.

Often, a woman contemplating starting a business has a single goal in mind - to quit working for someone else and strike out on their own. This could mean the future woman entrepreneur may be happy with just replacing current income as long as she is making enough money to provide for a good life. But many future women business owners never consider how much potential their idea may have and don’t plan in such a way as to allow for limitless growth.

By now, we’ve all been told the importance of social media marketing. We’ve been told where to go, how to connect, and when to update. But something that all too often seems to be left out is the “why” — the reasons that stimulate us in the direction of social media marketing in the first place. So before you dive head first into the social media pool, you should be able to answer the following two questions.

• And, more importantly, why should I care?

In addition to what's on your website, search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask also care about "off site" connections to your website. These days, the range and variety of off-site optimization opportunities is increasing dramatically.

Backlinks

Whenever another website links to yours, it is called a backlink or an "incoming link." These links have both direct value (someone has recommended your website) and search engine value (Google's computers say "gee, someone has recommended this website, it must be useful.").

Unfortunately, not all backlinks are created equal. If you've received requests to swap links or engage in three-way links, or get hundreds of links for $39.95, etc., those offers are not very useful. While they may not be scams entirely, they're usually not much better.

Instead of defining a bad backlink, let's define a great one, and you'll get the idea of why one great link can have the same value of hundreds or thousands of lesser links as far as the search engines are concerned.
